The main aim of the landscaping is to repair a large clay lined pond and enhance the surrounding woodland, bankings and lawns. This will create a tranquil pond area that will allow occasional boating and swimming, whilst the banks, lawns and woodlands can be easily walked through and enjoyed.

To repair the clay lined pond we will drain the water away and remove specific pond and banking vegetation as their roots are damaging the clay lining. The existing clay will then be puddled using specialist equipment. The old inflow stream and dam are severely damaged, these will be fixed using a mix of traditional clay lining and modern butyl lining techniques. The pond banking will be improved with the use of large boulders that have been sourced from the ground. A traditional stone jetty will be built out into the water so that people can access boats and quest out to the island. The surrounding woodland will be enhanced by selective felling, thinning, pruning and clearing. The wood chippings from this will be used to create informal paths that lead you through the mature specimen trees.

The project begins next week and will be carried out in stages over the next 3 months, there will pictures in the gallery for you to view when the work has been completed.
