SPRING IS IN THE AIR!

Our garden project at Levens in the South Lakes is now complete and looking fabulous with fantastic vibrant colours of tulips against the limestone walls. The House is integrated into a hillside with step embankments and terraces with a southerly aspect commanding wonderful views across the Lythe Valley towards the River Kent Estuary.

The project brief was to create an accessible garden that allows for wheel chair access and to incorporate seating areas and extensive planting areas both at ground level and in raised beds. A pond and pottager garden was also interwoven into the curvaceous design using the limestone walls to create spaces and retain the ever changing levels.

The design also aimed to create a beautiful setting for the front of the house and to link the house into the natural surroundings overlooking the Lythe Valley. Wide generous steps leading to the front door allowed for large pots to be placed elegantly on either side. Raised garden beds adjacent to the steps allowed the pathway to gradually rise up around to the front of the house.

The materials used include local limestone walls and sandstone coping and paving. Sandstone setts are used to define edges and resin bound paving is used for pathways. A bbq area was built into the existing terraces and we designed a bespoke handcrafted wood shed for this area. We also designed bespoke steel railings and trellis' for climbing roses.
